Insidious Void "Entropy" EP Review

Conjurings From The Hellfire Club is proud to present the debut EP Entropy courtesy of Northern Ireland trio Insidious Void, ever since the band released their brilliant debut single Upon A Dead World i've been really excited to hear more material from them and finally the wait is over and it's been more then worth it,prepare to hear some absolutely Crushing Blackened Death Metal.

The EP is opened up with an Ominous and Symphonic sounding Intro entitled The War which sets the tone for the barrage of Heaviness that proceeds it throughout the EP as soon as the intro ends the band unleash some Groove Laden Brutality with the Riff Fest that is Trinity Downfall  the brutality on offer is enhanced by the drumming ranging from mid tempo to blast beats giving the overall sound a nice technical feel, Upon a Dead World further pushes the boundaries of brutality to another level with added Black Metal style screams combined with severely deep gutturals.

The final track on the EP  Entropy keeps the same sort of pace as the previous two tracks but adds an epic element to proceedings making the EP as a whole a really enjoyable listen and judging by the musicianship on offer i have a feeling the band will further develop their sound to another level, for a debut release this is absolutely fantastic would highly recommend any Death Metal fan to check these out.

Acid Age: Semper Pessimus Album Review

Northern Ireland War Jazz Hellions Acid Age have finally unleashed their third full lenght album Semper Pessimus, it's been five years since their last output the fantastic Like a Runaway Combine Harvester in a Field of Crippled Rabbits, the long overdue wait has been truly worth it, this album is something truly special and needs to be heard to be believed how sublime it is.

Been a long time Fan/Follower of this band since their inception in 2013, the progreesion of their sound and musicianship has got better with each release and finally in my opinion they've reached that undoubted potential i could see when i first heard them, anyway enough of the superlatives for now let's get down to the guts of this album.

The concept of the album is based around Nero, The last Emperor of the Julio-Claudian Dynasty, each song tells a story of his Tyrannical and Murderous reign; the opening track The Shameless Lyre sets the tone for the whole album perfectly, the spoken word/rhyme section creates an extremely sinister tone for the story to unfold, midway through the song there's a brilliantly executed Millitant style drum solo courtesy of the ultra talented Aran Howe.

There's a very prevelent Progressive structure to the music not too dissimilar to Blind Illusion and Watchtower, Jude's absolutely Stellar Guitar work combined with Jake's insanely Bombastic Basslines are absolutely awe inspiring and almost head exploding at times; there's also a level of brutality/heaviness which is designed to bludgeon and destroy to a level never experienced before, this is also the first time the band decided to go with analog production(previous releases were all digital production), this was a very smart idea as it gives the sound a very old school feel but still the band maintain a level of originality you're unlikely to hear in any modern albums.

This is a release everyone need to listen to at least once,  every track on offer has something unique and special to it, my personal favourites would either be Banquet Of The Dead or The Burning of Rome but the album as a whole offers plenty of absolutely Top Notch songs, if you decide not to listen to this you'll regret it big time, this is some top level musicianship you're not likely to hear anytime soon.

Wardomized: Forced to Eat From The Apple Tree Review

Hailing from Belfast, Northern Ireland, Wardomized deliver a filthy, devastating brand of Grindcore, thus far the band have released 3 EP's "In The Raw" "Red Death(Flow Through My Veins)" and this their most recent release "Forced to Eat From The Apple Tree".

It's great to hear how Wardomized have progressed with each release starting with some Crossover Hardcore with slight elements of Crust on "In The Raw" the very impressive "Red Death" has Death Metal with a bit of Groove reminiscent of  Sepultura, which leads us to this tremendously killer release were the band combine all the elements of each release into one filthy, sickening & obliterating piece of work, there's one thing that caught my attention instantly was the vocals remind me of one of my favourite bands ever Impetigo; throw in an added homage to the Grindfathers Napalm Death and you have one hell of an awesome EP.

Wardomized are here to bring you the ugliest, filthiest, devastating, most obliterating Grindcore you're likely to hear, this is a band with a shit load of potential, one which seems to have nailed down their sound pretty quickly, this is a release well worth checking out especially if you like ugly and filthy Grindcore.

Raptore "Rage N' Fever" Review

Argentinian Heavy Metal Hellions Raptore are relatively new to the scene forming in 2012 in the city of  La Plata, thus far releasing a demo in 2014 and this their debut full length aptly entitiled "Rage N' Fever".

The album was originally released last year through an Argentine label. Old School aficianados of Heavy/Speed Metal have been treated to a re-issue courtesy of the ever impressive German Label  Witches Brew with the added treat of two bonus tracks in the way of two covers of  Witching Hour by Venom and Desperadoes by Charger.  The band offer an impressive mix of Heavy/Speed Metal in the vein of Accept,(Early) Scorpions and Speedy elements similar to Exciter, also an underlying 70's rock n roll vibe which adds a very punchy feel to proceedings. The music on offer is very energetic, aggressive, riotous and heavy as hell, this is a really fun album to listen to and i'm sure the band puts on one hell of a show especially with ragers like Rage N' Fever, Runner Of Death &  Back In The Oven.

Overall this is a seriously kick ass album, especially if you're a fan of Old School Heavy/Speed Metal, The band may well be in their infancy but show abundance of potential and may well be a top international act destined for stardom beyond their wildest dreams; Anyway this is definitely an album i'd highly recommend for you listening pleasure; A Rip Roaring relentless rock n roll rager that is sure to have all you Old School Fans Headbanging til your necks break.

Horrenda "Vile Lament" Review

Horrenda originally started out as a solo project courtesy of  Outis and eventually into a full time line up completed by Nomad(Vocals), Cruxx(Drums) & Keith(Bass); thus far the band have released a few splits and a couple of demo's including the fantastic Neronian Times and this their newest offering Vile Lament.

This is a huge improvement on their previous demo which was absolutely fantastic,it's obvious the band put a lot of collective effort into improving what was on offer before making this a seriously killer release. It's no secret that the band are massive fans of The Second Wave Of Black Metal, Nomads  vocal style is similar to the legendary Attila Csihar Of Mayhem, also the band are not by no means a blatant copy of bands from that era, they like to have meaningful lyrical input relating to Irish Folklore & History not the usual Hellfire & Brimstone associated with Black Metal,In all this is a seriously kick ass release and well worth a listen, the band even through in two stellar covers of  Mercyful Fate's "A Dangerous Meeting" & Mayhem's "Pure Fucking Armageddon".

Horrenda have raised the bar to a whole new level with this release and this fan is truly excited for what the band has to offer in the future,in my opinion they're destined to garner a much bigger fanbase with this release and deservedly so.
BLACK FUCKING METAL BLACK METAL IST KRIEG!!!!!!!!!!

Aksaya "Kepler" Review

French band Aksaya offer an experimental style of Black/Death Metal, formed in 2013 and consisting of three members thus far the band have released one EP  Troisième Guerre and two full length albums K-141 and this their newest offering Kepler.

This is very cold and powerful Black Metal with elements of Melodic Death Metal and an Interstellar atmosphere prevelent throughout the album, at times it reminds me of Rebel Extravanganza era  Satyricon and some slight homage to Dissection, the samples running throughout the album conjure up the onset of battle & war and a sense of impending doom. This is a really interesting listen with a really nice blend of melody, melancholy, coldness & brutality, the band are an extremely tight unit crafting very passionate and quality musicianship.

Aksaya are a very talented band offering a fantastic fusion of Black & Death Metal intertwined with mind bending & warlike samples, This band is definitely one to keep a close watch on,with future releases they're only going to develop their sound into an unstoppable force of nature.

Unkindness Of Ravens "The Perfect Dark" Review

Offaly/Tipperary natives Unkindness Of Ravens offer an extremely unique and original brand of Post Rock/Goth Rock, they originally formed in 2012 as a trio under the moniker  Road Rash and later in 2015 expanded to a five piece, Thus far the band have released an EP Wolftrap Mountain and two albums Under Stolen Skies and this their newest offering The Perfect Dark.

Most the lyrical content has elements of Druidic and Pre-Christian Irish mythology while also touching on real life experiences, this is what makes the aesthetics of the band so unique; The fusion of the vast array of styles through out the album is another element that puts a spotlight on the band, the Organ/Synth passages courtesy of Danielle Egan are extremely hypnotic and captivating, the heartfelt passionate vocals of Darren Keegan are dramatic, melancholic and somewhat awe-inspiring, there's plenty of words i could use to portray how fantastic this album is but they wouldn't do it justice you'll just have to listen to it yourself.  Of the thirteen tracks on offer there's plenty of standout moments for the listener to get drawn in and never want to leave, repeat listens are a must.

Unkindness Of Ravens have significantly raised the standard from their previous release and have left an undenaible mark on this person, this is an album well worth investing your time in and definitely worth purchasing,it's a truly monumentally epic masterpiece, one of the best albums i've heard so far this year. This is a band that may well be destined for an absolutely fantastic future.
