Insidious Void 'Hellscape' EP Review

Following on from their excellent debut EP Entropy the brilliant Blackened Death Metal Force Insidious Void have taken the time to make sure the standard of their music reaches new heights, i was expecting something of true quality when they announced they were working on new material but nothing prepeared me for the onslaught of the crushing heaviness of their phenomenal new EP Hellscape ,be prepeared for some absolutely annihilating earth shaking brutality.

Wasting no time straight from the off they delve into the relentlessly crushing Legacy combining crushing grooves with an atmosphere usually found in Black Metal ,this sounds akin to the Polish veterans Hate but still has that killer Insidious Void sound, this almost 8 minute track has a epicness that was hinted on their previous release but not explored to this extent, Ashen Earth has that dark atmosphere running throughout and although not overly Technical the rhytmn section crushes with an efficiency and power not far removed from 90's inspired Old school Death Metal.

The Doom Laden intro at the start of On Ruinous Winds is executed with unnerving aplomb before launching into a symphonic passage that gives the atmosphere something dreadful is about to happen, also enjoy the way they let the music flow for over 2 minutes before the vocals kick in ,the relentlessness throughout this track is absolutely mind blowing it really shows the standards this band have risen to, the closing track Hellscape hits like a tonne of bricks and that trademark groove adds a nice blend of heaviness with catchy hooks, something noticable is the pomp and confidence within the music where you know they mean business and it's something i enjoy to see bands doing.

The standard has been well and truly set now,not only have Insidious Void have shown a progression from their previous material they've blown that proverbial glass ceiling to smithereens with this absolutely phenomenal offering, although you can hear influences from luminaries such as Hate and Behemoth they have put their own stamp on this, the amount of hard work and a concise thought out process they've put into this can not be ignored, something not mentioned is the production on this is abolutely monstrous, the musicianship is on another level of quality making this a bonafide contender for EP of the year.

RATING: 9.5/10

Rotlaust "The Dirge" Album Review

Once in a while something comes out of nowhere and hits you like a tonne of brick or a curveball so to speak and your left utterly gobsmacked and speechless i could add a few more descriptive analogies to describe the absolutely mind blowing album The Dirge from Blackened Death Metal Project Rotlaust, Former Dead Aeon Vocalist Jack Penders is the brainchild behind this monumental project and has enlisted the help of a few old friends to help create possibly one of the best releases within the Irish Metal scene this year.

Carrion opens up with the sound of thundering drums rumbling in the background before we're hit with a barage of crushing riffs and relentless drumming add to that a groove that continually evolves the track into nefarious tinged vocals which switch between Crushing Growls and tortured shreeks, suddenly there's the brief sound of a sitar which blends in seamlessly with the rest of the music before a soaring lead pushes the atmosphere to another level, Ceaseless continues the trend of combining groove with crushing relentlessness with an added darkness and atmosphere, the vocals begin to develop a much more darker and sinister tone,as the song title suggest the boundaries pushed into a territory that's never ending, The tempo is slowed down slightly with the groove laden heaviness of All But Calcerous while the dual vocals add a more caustic/aggressive atmosphere to proceedings, another addition is the riffs are a lot more melodic on this track, near the end of the track there's a sample of some man speaking about some nightmarish scenario about life and evolution this seamlessly flows into the earth shaking crushingly heavy The Deafening Dawn Chorus which seems to be touching on the topic of depression and the mental restraints that go with it, the further you delve into this album the darker and more sinister it becomes which is further compunded with another eerie sample from the same person about beliefs and how much they enjoy the darkness within life.

Stain Of The Familiar delves further into mental anguish and societal collapse, the relentlessness begins to reach even higher levels, the musicianship is absolutely mind blowing and soars like a pheonix risen from the ashes, Nascent really pushes a relentless atmosphere and darkness to the fore further compounding the exremely sinister aura persisting throughout this offering, again we hear another sample/spoken dialogue from the same person this time talking about rage and a world full of bleakness and hopelessness, The Dirge combines every element and facet within this opus with a relentless efficiency that most Death Metal Bands would only dream of,about half way through the song we're treated to a dream like sequence which adds a slightly uplifting element to the overall aura before delving back into the malevolent and aggressive scenarios, Nex Internum is a fitting way to close this absolutely magnificient opus combining elements of Black Metal with the trademark crushing groove laden Death Metal ,all executed with ruthless precision and efficiency.

The Dirge was an absolute curve ball of a release that no one was expecting and to everyones delight it delivered an album with all the hallmarks of a modern masterpiece, this has everything you'd want from an Extreme Metal band, darkness, crushing grooves, the technical proficiency of all the luminaries that create this type of Blackened Death Metal,a relentlessness that evolves to a mind blowing crescendo the further you delve into this opus, furthermore the work, focus and effort put into this deserve to commended with all the aplomb of modern masterpice of artistic genius.

Insidious Void "Entropy" EP Review

Conjurings From The Hellfire Club is proud to present the debut EP Entropy courtesy of Northern Ireland trio Insidious Void, ever since the band released their brilliant debut single Upon A Dead World i've been really excited to hear more material from them and finally the wait is over and it's been more then worth it,prepare to hear some absolutely Crushing Blackened Death Metal.

The EP is opened up with an Ominous and Symphonic sounding Intro entitled The War which sets the tone for the barrage of Heaviness that proceeds it throughout the EP as soon as the intro ends the band unleash some Groove Laden Brutality with the Riff Fest that is Trinity Downfall  the brutality on offer is enhanced by the drumming ranging from mid tempo to blast beats giving the overall sound a nice technical feel, Upon a Dead World further pushes the boundaries of brutality to another level with added Black Metal style screams combined with severely deep gutturals.

The final track on the EP  Entropy keeps the same sort of pace as the previous two tracks but adds an epic element to proceedings making the EP as a whole a really enjoyable listen and judging by the musicianship on offer i have a feeling the band will further develop their sound to another level, for a debut release this is absolutely fantastic would highly recommend any Death Metal fan to check these out.

Vorzug "Three" Review

Arizona Death Metal hellions Vorzug are a relatively new band starting out in 2014,they've released one full length album Call Of The Vultures & this their mini EP simply entitled Three.

What's on offer is very competent & fantastically executed Old School style Death Metal with brief elements of Black Metal and a very melodic atmosphere prevelent in the three tracks on offer, interestingly this release unlocked "Best Seller" status on Amazon for new releases & Metal releases. This is a highly enjoyable listen especially if you like crushing melodic riffs, furious blast beats, sick & intimidating guttural vocals.

Vorzug may be in their infancy as a band but they offer extremely mature musicianship and deliver it with perfection, this is a perfect release for all you fans of Old School Death Metal, an absolute Old School Headbanging Fest.
VORZUG RULES OH IT'S TRUE IT'S DAMN TRUE!!!!

Oracle "Beyond Omega" Review

Alabama natives Oracle deliver a devastatingly crushing brand of Melodic Blackened Death Metal, Formed in 2016 and featuring ex & current members of Melodic Death Metal act Curse The Flesh. This is their debut album entitled Beyond Omega.

Meticulously crafting an atmosphere & musicianship akin to the likes of Septic Flesh, Behemoth & Emperor, Oracle create a level of brutality & groove not usually prevelent with Melodic Blackened Death Metal bands, it's not often a band maintains a level of Brutality & Melody so fantastically without it been smothered in the mix, the album displays defined & audible vocals while the guitars offer symphonic, explosive crescendos, the drumming brings it all together mixing extremely brutal blast beats with an element of groove making the whole album well worth a listen.

Oracle have laid the foundations for something truly monumental, they may well be taking influence from luminaries within the international Death & Black Metal scene but they deliver it with stellar muscianship and a passion & energy that make this an extremely worthwhile listen.
