Archityrants "Black Water Revelation" Review

Formed in 1998 under the moniker of A Tribute to The Plague, the band changed their name in 2007 to Archityrants, hailing from Curitiba, Brazil they deliver an epic brand of Heavy/Doom Metal similar to such luminaries as Candlemass & Solstice, this is their full length debut(as Archityrants) and was released in 2011.

This album has everything a Traditional Doom fan would enjoy, emotion, passion, beautifully crafted musicianship, darkness & melancholy in vast abundance all melded into epic song structures, the bands vocalist has unbelievable range adding a power that just catapults the music to a different stratosphere best potryed on Poison of Father is His Poisonous Son & Melancholic Sings of The Soul, most of the tracks on offer have great quality that will demand your attention, this is an album that gets better with numerous plays, each time something you didn't notice on a previous listen will grab your attention making it a very addictive listen.

Archityrants have masses of potential, with the right label and a few more releases they'll get a lot more exposure within the International Metal community, i for one will be paying very close attention to them in the future and hopefully they are sucessful in future endeavours.
KEEP IT TRUE KEEP IT METAL!!!!!!

Vanha "Within The Mist Of Sorrow" Review

Swedish Two Piece Vanha perform a heartfelt, atmospheric & melancholic brand of Death/Doom Metal, they came into existence in 2016, this is their debut album entitled Within The Mist of Sorrow.

For a band only starting out this album shows a maturity & musicianship well beyond their years,it's like they've been honing their craft for numerous years, the sound and feeling is stepped in an atmosphere, darkness & melancholy reminescent of mid 90's Death/Doom in the vein of My Dying Bride &  Katatonia every track on offer is monumentally epic with abundance of heartfelt lyrics creating an album worthy of your attention, standout tracks for me are Old Hearts Fail, Into The Cold Light & Dark Heart, the remaining four tracks have plenty of quality to grab your attention.

Vanha may well be in their infancy as a band but this is a rare feat when a debut album is demonstrating a maturity & craft so fantastically, the emotion & passion portrayed on this release is absolutely breathtaking, they may well be destined to be a band with a huge level of success and deservedly so especially what they offer with this release.
VANHA WILL DOOM YOU TO DEATH!!!!!!

Animator "The Venom Within" Review

Waterford Quartet Animator are a killer no frills thrash metal band, they were formerly known as Heresy until 2011, so far they've released two EP's and one full length album, this is their second EP entitled  The Venom Within.

I've been very excited to hear this EP for a good few months and the wait was well worth it, this is absolutely fantastic and shows a lot more maturity and better musicianship from what was heard on their previous releases, combining elements of Crossover with no frills Thrash Metal akin to Nuclear Assault , there's plenty of  angst, emotion & passion throughout the EP, touching on social & political issues, the band unleash a fury with relentless abandomement, furiously melodic leads and a certain groove not usually prevelent in Thrash Metal, this is one hell of an addictive release, get's better with each listen.

Animator have well and truly raised the bar and are only going to get better with each release, the future is bright for them and long may it continue, hard graft, passion & stellar musicianship combined with an abrasive attitude are qualities that will endear the band to many new fans

Indominus "Legion Within" Review

Hailing from Northern Ireland Indominus rose from the ashes of existence when Melodic Death Metal band For Christ Sake was put on hold and the members Simon, Logan, Mark & Alan(who has since left the band) decided to keep playing but under a different name. Even though they've previously released material with another band this is their debut EP.

This is an excellent EP offering technically proficient Death Metal and stellar musicianship, there's the fair share of killer tracks on this release giving the listener plenty to enjoy about it, Leeches is a rip roaring way to kick off proceedings offering abundance of heaviness, speed, melody and a visceral vocal style,  Backbone kicks in like a pounding sledgehammer with intricate muscianship and a mid paced riff that will have the listener hooked.third track Shadow has a hauntingly heavy riff running throughout the song with hints of None so Vile era Cryptopsy &  Human Era Death. The pace is somewhat slowed on Fragile Existence but still offers something worthwhile for the listener. Title track Legion Within is a fitting end to a somewhat highly enjoyable EP,ridiculously heavy with a lot of technically executed twin Guitar harmonies.

In ending Indominus are a group of very talented muscians who play with plenty of energy, enthusiasm & passion, hopefully they continue to offer fans more excellently executed Death Metal in the future,i for one am excited what the future holds for this band.

XeroPulse " Beast Of The Moor" Review

XeroPulse is a one man project hailing from Cork who plays an absolutely fantastic brand of Atmospheric Cavernous Black Metal/Synth in the vein of  Xasthur. Burzum & Darkthrone. This is the second release by this project and is by all accounts well worth immersing yourselves in.

As briefly touched on before this release has all the trademarks of Second Wave of Black Metal, Raw, Atmospheric, Misanthropic & Melancholic, along with an ode to DSBM similar to Xasthur. Kicking off proceedings is As Armies Fall which as well as been extremely atmospheric & depressive has an underlying uplifting vibe like struggling to find your way to the light at the end of a tunnel, this track sets the tone for the rest of the EP brilliantly, there's a nice bango intro thrown in for good effect at the start of the second track Night Dance of The Fire Faeries what follows is utterly fantastic with a homage to Under a Funeral Moon era Darkthrone. Title track Beast of The Moor follows a similar trend to the second track. Mossy Ruins has unbelievably fantastic atmosphere in a similar vein to Filosofem era Burzum, also with the added bonus of an input from Darragh of  Dublin based Black Metal band Horrenda who also offers more stellar input on the EP's final track The Black Gate.

Have to say this release is absolutely fantastic evoking memories of how groundbreaking and fantastic the much talked about Second Wave of Black Metal was, this EP is in no way copycatting,it's  paying homage to an era that has gone in to the annals of Black Metal history and XeroPulse  have more then contributed to it's legacy.

The Evil Dead "Earth Inferno" Review

Hailing From Argentina The Evil Dead are a somewhat unique band with a style not too easy to categorize as they have an extremely creative style of Traditional Heavy Metal,Speed Metal,Melodic Black Metal and a underlying ting of Rock 'n' Roll, all fused into one, creating something diverse and original, The Band formed in 2006 and have released one EP, a Split and two full length albums including this one aptly titiled Earth Inferno.

This Album has an abundance of all the styles mentioned previously, Snarling Black Metal vocals similar to what Dissection done on their earlier albums,Killer harmonies in the vein of Iron Maiden, aggression akin to Motorhead, a rock n roll vibe similar to AC/DC & Thin Lizzy; There's plenty of standout killer tracks throughout the album including Earth Inferno, Electric Evil Revisited, the epicly fantastic Maronan & the rifftastic Song Of The Hunt.

This is a fantastic album, the band perform to a high standard and when you listen to it you get the feeling that they have a lot of fun doing so i'll even go out on a limb and say this it's one of the best albums i've heard so far this year and may well be an extremely popular album with most metalheads. I'll leave you with this The Evil Dead play with a lot of heart and passion and it shows on this release. In my opinion the band are going to be around for a long time where they'll hopefully hone their craft to a higher level with future releases, also i highly reccomend you to listen to this album, you'll be missing out big time of you don't.
KEEP IT METAL  KEEP IT TRUE!!!!!!

Suzaku Avenue "Interiors" Review

Hailing from Dublin,Ireland Suzaku Avenue are a relatively new band and it shows on this their debut EP Interiors but don't let that put you off listening to it, as there's a lot of potential in what they're trying to achieve.

Diegesis is a fantastic song to kick off procedings,an absolute rip-roaring track with Varying Vocal styles ranging from viciously aggressive to clean singing backed up by an excellent wall of sound in a way similar to Dillinger Escape Plan. Enabler(Modest Proposal) follows along the same template as the opening track along with lyrical content about relationship issues. Third track I Think I Know What This Is About is a Hauntingly Epic track(almost hitting the 10 minute mark),with a lot of emotion and feeling touching on relationship woes & frustrations. Final track Second-Order is a fitting ending to a somewhat worthwhile EP, Suzaku Avenue may well be learning their craft but they sure as hell offer a lot of on this EP.

The Underlying current of social urban decay, social & relationship issues running throughout the EP only further feed the urge to want to hear what the band has to offer in the future,in ending the band show plenty of honesty, emotion & feeling on this release, Traits that make you want to see the band achieve a high level of success in the future.
