Unkindness Of Ravens "The Perfect Dark" Review

 Offaly/Tipperary natives Unkindness Of Ravens offer an extremely unique and original brand of Post Rock/Goth Rock, they originally formed in 2012 as a trio under the moniker  Road Rash and later in 2015 expanded to a five piece, Thus far the band have released an EP Wolftrap Mountain and two albums Under Stolen Skies and this their newest offering The Perfect Dark.

 Most the lyrical content has elements of Druidic and Pre-Christian Irish mythology while also touching on real life experiences,this is what makes the aesthetics of the band so unique; The fusion of the vast array of styles through out the album is another element that puts a spotlight on the band,the Organ/Synth passages courtesy of Danielle Egan are extremely hypnotic and captivating,the heartfelt passionate vocals of Darren Keegan are dramatic,melancholic and somewhat awe-inspiring, there's plenty of words i could use to portray how fantastic this album is but they wouldn't do it justice you'll just have to listen to it yourself.  Of the thirteen tracks on offer there's plenty of standout moments for the listener to get drawn in and never want to leave,repeat listens are a must.

Unkindness Of Ravens have significantly raised the standard from their previous release and have left an undenaible mark on this person,this is an album well worth investing your time in and definitely worth purchasing,it's a truly monumentally epic masterpiece, one of the best albums i've heard so far this year.This is a band that may well be destined for an absolutely fantastic future.

Scáth Na Deithe "Pledge Nothing But Flesh" Review

Scáth Na Deithe is the Black Metal project of Cathal Hughes(Aeternum Vale, Dúnmharú & Nautilus) & Stephen Todd(Astralnaut), The band formed in 2015 and thus far have released one EP The Horrors Of Old & this their first full length offering entitled Pledge Nothing But Flesh.

 Haunting, Dark,Bleak, Atmospheric are a few things that come to mind while listening to this album, the rawness extremely abundant throughout the album reminds one of such luminaries like early Darkthrone & Burzum, there's plenty of emotion & feeling prevelent within the music on offer, the blend of melody within the rawness adds an extremely emotive feeling to proceedings taking the obvious talent of the band to a far greater level from their previous release. The vocals add to the overall rawness and at times are unpleasantly dark which gives a somewhat atmospheric & torturous element to the album; With the exception of two songs each track is hitting the 10+ minute mark making the release as a whole extremely epic giving the listener an album worth numerous repeat listens.

Scáth Na Deithe have well and truly raised the bar significantly from their previous release, if you like epic,dark,torturous,raw Black Metal this is definitely an album that demands your undivided attention, This is an album that may well take numerous listens before it really sinks in and only then will you realise how brilliant it is.

Hellfire "Goat Revenge" Review

Ukrainian Black/Death Blasphemers Hellfire were unleashed upon the world in 2014 to bring forth apocalyptic devastation, unholiness, and worship the dark lord satan with this their debut release aptly titiled Goat Revenge.

 The band offer a devastating blend of 90's inspired Black & Death Metal with elements of Old School Thrash. The band wanted this style since their inception and deliver it with devastating consequences, the switching between crushing Death growls and snarling black metal vocals adds a much more sinister, raw & blasphemous vibe to proceedings,at times the Death growls remind me of Penetralia & Osculum Obscenum era  Hypocrisy, there's also elements of Mayhem,Bathory,Impiety, Darkthrone & Bestial Mockery prevelent throughout the EP giving the release a somewhat old school vibe. Despite the mention of such luminaries of the underground this is an absolutely kick ass debut offering from the band, each track on offer is nothing short of top notch Black/Death Metal.

Hellfire are a band well worth paying attention to especially if you're into 90's Death & Black Metal, if you want your metal raw,blasphemous & extremely vicious this is definitely a release you need to be listening to,

The Vicious Head Society "Abject Tomorrow" Review

 Irish Progressive Metal extraordinaires The Vicious Head Society are a band based in Ennis, County Clare, They came into existence in 2010 and after years of hard work and dedication finally released this their debut album Abject Tomorrow in 2017.

 Basically the band is the project of Guitar Virtuoso Graham Keane. After years of honing his craft and enlisting the services of some of the Metal communities stellar musicians to create this unbelievably fantastic work of art. As mentioned there's a few well known musicians to put some input to the album namely Derek Sherinian(Alice Cooper,Yngwie Malmsteen & Dream Theater), Kevin Talley(Dying Fetus, Misery Index,Chimaira & Six Feet Under), Wilmer Waarbroek(Ayreon) & Pat Byrne(Hedfuzy). This is a concept album based around a world were everyone is microchipped and one mans microchip fails,which causes him to start questioning things even his own sanity & his struggle within the system; this is an utterly spellbinding album offering something that listeners can truly immerse themselves in, epic musical passages, fantastic varying vocal styles between crushing guttural vocals & soaring heartfelt vocals,

The Vicious Head Society have well and truly created an album well worth it's weight in gold, this is an album that should be something that everyone needs to hear, it has stellar production,unbelievably fantastic music, with every listen it just keeps getting better & better there always seem to be some new element that grabs your attention,
